wait, goodbye February! Either way, I couldn’t go to sleep tonight without having at least ONE post in Feb!
Wow… time flies! I’d love to say that we’ve been so busy doing really glamorous, fun things. However, that isn’t true. Well, unless you count the following glamorous = work, taking care of a new puppy who is in full puppy mode, taking care of a full-of-life almost 5 year old boy, having a stomach virus, amongst other things!!! (I think that is the worlds longest run-on sentence ever…. oh well, it’s my blog and I like improper grammar sometimes =) )
Today we were iced in. We didn’t leave the house at all. Couldn’t get out if we wanted too! I ended up working for most of the day from the kitchen table. It was nice to be under the same roof with my boys all day.
Jax had been looking out all day and couldn’t wait to get out there!
Total time spent getting dressed/ready to play in the snow – 15 minutes
Total time spent outside in the snow – 4.2 minutes
It was FREEZING (obviously – ha!). We had a blast though!
Touching the first snow of 2010 – priceless
tasting the first snow – even better
then he was off to run like a crazy kid does in the snow – he was ONE happy boy!
we took a second to capture a Jax and mommy photo
then he and daddy tried to do a little sledding
It was a super quick adventure, but memories were definitely made and that is all that matters!

Happy Saturday – May you and yours stay warm and safe
My friend Mandy has a photo contest on Friday’s. This is my first entry. How fun!
This was from Jaxon’s 2nd birthday. It was a small gathering at our house and I couldn’t get him away from those blocks, so I took the party to him! I love how he paused just long enough to blow out the candles!
Be sure to go to Mandy’s photo blog to see the others! oh yeah, and it’s her birthday, so wish her a happy birthday!
After our chat, I left Jaxon’s room and headed out to the family room. About 5 minutes later Jax came down the hall all decked out with his roller skates and knee pads. He put it all on by himself, which in itself is kind of amazing in my book, since the child THINKS he needs help getting dressed daily… oh my!
The skates were a Christmas gift from Marc, Stacey and Zoe, so I guess our little chat sparked the memory and inspired a skating session!
He actually wanted to try it all by himself tonight… I’m pretty sure we won’t be having a party at the roller skating rink anytime soon, but it is progress!
Here’s the proof:: (and a good little conversation)
Watching this just now, I realized what he was saying at the end and I’m cracking up! I’m sure he was thinking “duh, mom”! ha!
For the record, even though Jax did wear this shirt on Saturday (see this post), he does own other shirts! Also, this shirt raised some concern from some of our friends who are southern cowboys fans… we are not necessarily giants fans, but the shirt was on sale at old navy! ha!
Last summer Tracy and I did quite a bit of garage sale shopping! One Saturday we happened upon Erin’s house. She had a sewing table that I really liked. BUT it would not open and I wasn’t sure I could use it for my sewing machine. So… I left empty handed to think about it.
A few hours later she texted me and said I could HAVE it if I wanted to take it off her hands! Of course I said yes!
Joey was able to pry it open for me and I was SO excited. Then we realized that my sewing machine is not compatible with it. It is an older table and my sewing machine does not have the hooks needed to hold it . I was pretty bummed.
A few months later I decided to make it useful… of course it involved mod podge!
These pictures are NOT the greatest…. but you get the idea.
BEFORE::
(it was actually black, so this is after my sweet husband painted and distressed the legs for me)
AFTER::
there you have it… I’m seriously addicted to mod podge and scrapbook paper! Oh, and THANK YOU Erin… I will mod podge anything for you for free in exchange for the table

nothing formal. not planned. not dressy. just you. playing. being a boy. with your puppy. and your fort. PERFECT.
Dear Jaxon,
I know you don’t love it when I follow you around with the camera. I just want to capture you so that you will I will not forget what these times are like. Thank you for having me and my camera on your play date in the back yard on Saturday. I love you and the crazy, fun, loud, total-boy that you are!
Love,
Mommy
I think this is my favorite... because it's just you and your favorites: water, your lego watch, "ball-y shorts" (sweat shorts), and your rain/mud boots.
Joey and I have never been big on celebrating Valentines day… but I DO think it’s a fun little holiday. It’s so fun to make it a special day for Jaxon too!
I saw a fun tutorial the other day from Jen @ Tatertots & Jello and HAD to make them. Of course, mine are a little different … I LOVE how they turned out!
I had some leftover burlap from making this banner a few months ago:
I made it for the season opener… my precious banner did NOT prove to be good luck for the sooners this year …. Oh well, at least it’s cute!
Anyhow, I decided to make a burlap heart wreath::
I wanted a little red on it since my door is BLAH white… I wanted it to stand out a little more! I may make a trip to hob lob tomorrow and change it up a bit… I have another idea for it… I’ll let you know if I change it!
We had a great weekend. It was a balanced combo of work, rest, and play!
Saturday night we had the Hall’s over for dinner. Amy is my oldest (since 4th grade) friend. We had a fun time catching up!
Sunday after church, we came home for lunch and all kind of did our own thing. Jax and I ended up going out for a while.
Today we were able to take advantage of the beautiful weather and we went out for a family picnic at the park. It was so fun to take Tucker and to run around with him and Jaxon.
I also worked on a few projects! I will show you the finished products this week!
The first one is this::
I’ll post the story and pictures sometime tomorrow! Stay Tuned!
I came across these pictures the other day and realized I never posted them! This actually took place last year right after Christmas! Megan was in town visiting family. So of course, I picked her up for some girl time!
First, we did a little shopping!
Meg & Suz
After shopping we went out for a yummy dinner at Teds!
Back in the car to head to drop her off, we decided we needed to take a picture of our new matching sunglasses:
they actually only lasted a few weeks, no wonder they were on sale!
A few minutes later we realized we had been so busy talking that we still had them on… and it was definitely dark out!
For Christmas Joey and I got each other concert tickets to our favorites!
His Fave:
Brad Paisley
AmericanSaturdayNightTour
January 4, 2010 – Oklahoma City, Ok
EIGHT degrees outside, Yes, that says 8!!
Yeah, we didn’t quite sign up for the weather, but we braved it and had a blast! Here is the picture story of our evening::
my sweet date!
My face was still frozen here. We walked from dinner to the Ford Center. Speaking of dinner, that was interesting in itself!
We ate here:
Dinner at Toby Keith's I LOVE this bar and grill
When we got there it was PACKED because this guy was playing:
One of the radio stations hosted a pre-concert, concert. We waited around for a table, but there was no end in sight. There was a couple near us that got a table and offered for us to sit with them. TOTALLY RANDOM, I know! But…. You gotta live… AND eat, so we sat with them! They were “normal”, I guess as “normal” as us for sitting with a random couple for dinner. It wasn’t bad, it was REALLY loud in there and there was a lot going on with the concert so it wasn’t like we were all just sitting and staring at each other! ha!
After dinner we walked over to the Ford center. Our ears were literally frozen. It hurt.
The first person to perform was this guy:
Never heard of him before
Next up was::::
And finally:
Brad Paisley
We had GREAT seats:
the view from our seats
I was even able to get a picture with him:
me & Brad
We had such a fun night! I’m thankful for the opportunity to treat Joey to a fun night out… oh yeah, and a reason to wear these babies::
my first time to wear these...
May the next concert be just as fun… but please, PLEASE let the weather be warmer…. I’d settle for 28 degrees!
