Operation: Keep Suzanne Pregnant, The Details

by on August 30th, 2010

Megan here again.  I’m acting as Suz’s personal PR rep until she’s feeling up to blogging/facebooking again.  It’s not a bad job at all, and honestly, I’m just glad there is something I can do to help her out!  Seeing as it is already late and I really need to get to bed, I’m going to do some bullet points from our convo this afternoon.

–Eli is still safely tucked away inside.  Her doctor’s first goal is to get her to 32 weeks, which is 3 weeks and 2 days from now.  Of course, if he can safely stay inside longer they will certainly keep him there.  But 32 weeks is the goal at this point.

– Suzanne has been given steroids to mature Elijah’s lungs and is on a steady stream of antibiotics to prevent infection.  She was having some contractions yesterday and was given medicine to stop them.  Thankfully, it worked and the contractions stopped.   With a ruptured bag of waters, infection is the biggest risk.  The nurses are taking her temperature every hour (doesn’t that make for some good sleep, ha!) and hey are keeping a very close eye on Eli’s heart rate for any sign of distress or infection.  So far, so good, and it’s been almost 48 hours since her water broke.  You know, I didn’t realize that you could stay pregnant after your water breaks or that you make more amniotic fluid.  They will be doing ultrasounds every other day to check her fluid level.  A normal level is a 12…yesterday she was about a 3.5.  Pray for more fluid at tomorrows sonogram!

–She is on complete and total bed rest.  I cannot even imagine, but Suzanne is handling it so well.  She has loved all her nurses and is making them all laugh and smile in typical Suzanne fashion.

–When it’s time for Eli to be born (not for weeks, please Lord!), ideally Suzanne to be transferred to Baptist for the delivery because they have a better equipped NICU.  But right now, they want to keep her where she is as long as possible.  In the case of an emergency c-section, Elijah will be transferred to Baptist as soon as he is stable and Suzanne will stay at Women’s until she is discharged.  Please pray that Eli’s birth is not an emergency and that there is time for the hospital transfer to happen.  She will get to see sweet Eli so much more if they are in the same hospital while she recovers from delivery.

So, I think that’s it so far…I feel like there is something I am forgetting, but hopefully I got all the major points in there.  The bottom line is right now, Suzanne and Eli are doing exactly what they need to be doing.  Suz is resting and Eli is growing.  They are certainly not out of the woods, but things are moving in the right direction.  Keep up the praying!  Suzanne says she feels so very loved and blessed.  God is good.

Until next time,

Megan

Operation: Keep Suzanne Pregnant, Part 1

by on August 29th, 2010

Hello friends of Suzanne.  This is Megan here.  She asked me to come on here and post an update.  The last 12 hours have been very eventful as Suzanne’s water broke at only 28.5 weeks pregnant.  So far, she is not in labor and the doctors are optimistic that Elijah will have time to do a little more growing before coming into the world.

Will you join me in prayer for Suzanne, Joey, Jaxon, and Eli as they face the coming days and weeks?  Suzanne will be on bed rest in the hospital for the rest of her pregnancy.  I know Suzanne, and like most moms, the thought of spending weeks on end in a bed, unable to care for her family, do her job, etc. is daunting to say the least.  Pray for Eli to grow big and strong. Pray that when he is born, he is born healthy and crying.  May his tiny lungs develop and sustain him.  Pray for Suzanne that she would be filled with peace and feel the comfort that can only come from knowing that God is in control.  Pray that she would not be filled with anxiety and worry, but instead be filled with hope and patience during the coming weeks and months.  Pray for Joey as he now faces balancing his time between Jaxon/home and Suzanne/the hospital, plus all the tasks of his normal life/job.   And pray for Jaxon that he would continue to be a happy, sweet 5 year old boy, and that he would have understanding beyond his years as he faces the challenges of the weeks ahead.

This sweet picture was taken just this morning, before Suzanne knew that he water had already broken.  Cutest picture ever!

Suz, I wish I could be with you in person right now. You are one of my dearest friends ever and I love you!

how to name your child

by on August 27th, 2010

We FINALLY agreed on two names and really liked them both!  So here is the story of how we decided:

We’re so excited and love his name!  Elijah (Eli) is from the bible (like Jaxon’s middle name – Josiah) and Michael is after both mine and Joey’s middle names (Michael and Michelle)… it’s perfect!  I feel so complete and at peace  now knowing what to call him.  I cannot believe that little Eli will be here in 11 weeks or so!

oh, Saturday how I love thee

by on August 14th, 2010

Saturdays….  there are so many different types of Saturdays.  Productive, cleaning, lazy, busy, well you get the idea!

Today is the first Saturday that we have all been home with no major plans in many weeks!  It’s awesome!

This morning, I did go with Tracy to a few garage sales before it got too hot.  I scored a little side table for the baby’s room (more on this to come).  Jax has been playing in his room for hours.  I love hearing him play!  Joey was able to watch some soccer for the kickoff of his soccer league.

Right now, the living room is dark, curtains drawn, pillows and blankets are out for movie time.  Night at the museum!

It’s a great day… here are a few pictures to prove it!

new look

I was bored tonight and it’s too hot to do much of anything, so I decided to play in photoshop and design a new look!!  I’m lovin’ it!

Have a great weekend!!

fun for the fourth

by on July 5th, 2010
Warning: extra long post ahead!

Friday the 2nd::

Every year we celebrate with Joey’s family on the Friday near the Fourth.  This year was no exception!  I took off work early on Friday so we could head down there.  I made yummy baked beans and homemade banana pudding!  So good!!

I’ll let the pictures tell the story….

Jaxon has been asking me to sit in the back with him a lot lately, and I want to spend as much time with him before the baby gets here, so why not!

Here we are… ready for the road trip!

My beautiful sister’s in law, Shannon and Amanda:

Joey and I:

The kids had a blast playing on the water slide:  Jaxon, with Ella Grace and Lanie

Jax caught some pretty good air!  Such a difference from the past few years where he would just slide down gently!

God knew we really needed some rain, but unfortunately it was this weekend! Due to the rain we were unable to set off fireworks and sparklers.  We had one upset little man, but we’ll go and do them another time!

Saturday the 3rd::

On Saturday we woke up to more rain!  I got up early enough to make my homemade salsa and guacamole for 30 people!  We headed over to the Whitesell’s for a cookout/swim party!  Actually we decided that due to the rain we would pass on the swimming but we were excited for a fun time!

Jaxon was so excited to see his Blair!  He hung out in her living area upstairs most of the time playing Wii.

There was SO much yummy food that I ran out of room on one plate for a sample of everything.  So being pregnant and not ashamed, I got a second plate for my fruit salad!

After we ate, the rain had died down a little and Jaxon was begging us to go swimming!  One problem, we didn’t pack a suit or extra clothes.  So, we made due!  Oh well, you’re only five once, right?  Look at that face!!!  He had a BLAST!  I can’t wait to go back once it’s sunny out.  I have a maternity suit with the tags still on it!

We stayed to watch the world cup game, it was fun to watch with a large group!  Then, we headed home for a nap!  Later that evening I went with Blair’s sister, Brooke to see Eclipse!

Saturday was such a good day, I was WORN out!

Sunday the 4th::

Joey began teaching the adult bible class at West Wood today.  He’s teaching the book of Roman’s for the month of July.  He did a great job!

After church, we went to eat lunch at one of our old favorites.  We learned that they have a new manager and we could tell!  It’s sad when things start to change… I hope they make it!  Once we were at home, I think it took me about five minutes to get into bed.  I was completely exhausted.  I took a good, long nap!!

We had plans to go to church and then to the ice cream social afterward, and then over to our good friend’s Tara and Phil’s.  Once I woke up, I still wasn’t feeling great and we decided just to hang out at home.  Oh, and did I mention it was RAINING again?  Joey and Jaxon went to get some dinner for us while I stayed home and caught up on Glee from last month.  Yes, it was still on the DVR and I can’t believe I hadn’t watched it yet!  After sitting around all day, and realizing that the fireworks would go on, we decided to take Jaxon to see them!

Joey drove us downtown and we parked in a lot across from the ballpark. We walked over to the ballpark and found a seat for the show.  We still had about 30 minutes to wait and we decided to walk back and watch them from the back of the truck.  Little did we know, that the show would be RIGHT in front of us!!  Better seats than inside the park!  It was so cool.

Jaxon snapped this of Joey and I before our walk to the ballpark.

Jax was in awe!  It was so fun to watch not only the show, but him!

He got the idea that he could call in the shots and types of fireworks on his lego watch.  The funny thing was, he would “call it in” and sure enough the kind that he wanted to see would show up!  He really believes still this morning, that he was truly calling the shots!  So funny!  He told Joey as he was being moved from the truck to the bed, that he was so tired from working so hard at the fireworks, but he had a lot of fun!  I love this kid!!

Happy Birthday America, we sure had a great weekend celebrating!

I’m still the only princess in the house….

by on July 4th, 2010

We went for our ultrasound on the 23rd!  It was so cool to see Jaxon’s face as he saw pictures of the baby for the first time.  It made it all so real.  I SO wish I would have recorded his reactions, so funny and priceless!

So, if you don’t already know… it’s a:::::

He also has a nice arm::

skeleton face::

And… his precious profile::

Everything is normal, but they are having me come back in a few weeks for a few more pictures of his heart and facial structure.  I was about 19 weeks and they want pictures a little more developed.  I know it will all be fine, but it makes me a little nervous, so please keep us in your prayers.

We have started to work on the nursery, but the boy has no name!  Of course, I had several girls names picked out but we’re starting from scratch with the boy names.  Jaxon has the coolest name in the book, so it’s a hard one to follow.  I’ll keep you posted!!!

Well, I think that’s all for tonight!  Hope you had a great weekend!

time flies (18 weeks)

by on June 15th, 2010

almost two months since my last post.  seriously?  time does fly!  I am now sporting a baby bump (see below)

We have an ultrasound scheduled for next week and we will find out the gender!  If you ask Jaxon he will tell you he wants a boy, but knows it’s a girl!  We’ll see!

I’m finally feeling really pretty good!  Every now and then I forget I’m pregnant, and then I’ll have some heartburn or look down at my “already getting swollen from time to time” ankles!  It’s so odd for me to feel good during pregnancy, it’s so, so different than with Jaxon!  I’ll take it!!

Joey and Jax are doing great!  The first week of summer they did “homework” every day and shopped and prepared us for our week at church camp.  This week they have been laying low, of course the 11+ inches of rain we had here in Edmond yesterday made it easy to stay inside.  I woke up early and headed back to work for the first time in a week and was greeted by flooding.  I had to turn around 3 times to get to work, but I finally made it!  Mixed feelings there.. ha!

I hope you’re all doing well and will be back sooner than later.  promise. :)

Random thoughts on Monday

by on April 19th, 2010

I have a whole lot of random going on in my head, so I thought it would be nice to write a post… you know like the good ole’ days! ha!  So I present to you in bullet format, some of the many tidbits roaming in my head::

  • I love Jaxon.  It makes me sad that he had a rough day at school and had privileges taken away from him tonight.
  • I’m proud that he accepted his consequences somewhat like a big boy.
  • Jaxon and I went to see “How to Train your Dragon” last week.  We found the dragon pj’s at wally world.  He has two pair.  So, now I am the mother of a really cute dragon when he is wearing the said pj’s
  • Joey was gone for 4 days last week.  Jax and I actually managed better than I expected.  Thank the Lord I wasn’t feeling as sick.
  • Speaking of being sick….. oh yes… morning, day and night.  Off and on.  THANKFULLY, it has been nothing like it was w/ Jaxon.
  • I’m PRAYING that it goes away completely in a week or two!
  • I have been doing a LOT of training new loan officers at work lately.  It makes me so thankful for those that were there for me four years ago.
  • I can’t believe I have been in the crazy mortgage business for four years next month.
  • Jax was only ONE when I started… so little
  • OH MY WORD, I never posted about Jaxon turning FIVE!  Must do that SOON!!!
  • Tonight we ate our first home-cooked,  from scratch meal in about four weeks.  I’m sorry honey :)
  • I really want to blog more
  • I really need to work on our blog to book
  • I really need more time in my day
  • now all I can think about is sleep
  • goodnight :)

** Please note, those smiley faces kind of creep me out! ** – oh and this is my 500th post!
