The Perfect Saturday

There are many reasons I love Saturday’s. Yesterday was a great example of a perfect Saturday.

  • waking up to a happy baby= a happy mommy & daddy
  • Joey’s yummy pancakes
  • back to bed at 10:00am for a morning nap with Jaxon
  • beautiful weather outside
  • ou football
  • quality time with my family
  • a trip to target
  • a night out with my husband – dinner and a trip to B&N, then home to watch a movie
  • a full night’s sleep, with an extra hour!

What more can you ask for? Today has been great so far too!! Church, lunch, a nap and now off to clean a little!! Hope you all had a good weekend too!

Kim found this jumper at a garage sale for $5.00!!! What a find!! Jaxon loves it and so do I. This just might be what we’ve been missing!! This may allow me to cook dinner without having to hold a baby while doing so. I sure hope so!! Thank you kim!!

Loaner Clothes

Ok, so I was already feeling like a less than perfect mother when I got to sonshine school today. I forgot that it was costume day. As you’ve seen in an earlier post, Jax is the cutest monkey ever and I wanted him to get to wear his costume today. He looked so cute today, so I let it slide. He was wearing his khaki pants and brown chopper shirt and hat from baby gap. He really looked like a mini Joey (so cute!) Well…….as you can see he didn’t get to wear his cute outfit for long. Jax evidently had a spit up accident and well, got his first and hopefully only experience with loaner clothes!! As you can see from his face in the above picture he is clearly saying “get these hideous pants off of me”. I had included an extra shirt in his bag, but no pants. I am thankful that he was clothed, however I find so many things wrong with loaner clothes. For instance, who knowswhere these pants have been or came from, and I do belive they were intended for a female baby. Oh well, like I said, at least he didn’t have to go around in just a diaper the rest of the day, and we got a huge laugh out of it. I am sure Jaxon will love these pictures someday!!!

Design Remix: The Winn's

Today has been one of the busiest, but rewarding days. It all began at 2:15 am when little Jaxon woke up to play. We were all three awake and finally he went to sleep about 4:15am. He woke again about 7:30!! What a night!! Joey and I have been wanting to re-arrange our bedroom for a while. We were given a beautiful dresser and it has been in the garage for quite some time. We decided today was the day!! We moved the bed around to make room for the dresser and made a few decorative changes. Also, we wanted to make our guest room more inviting and just that a guest room. The guest room is also the only place for our desk, so sometimes it can accumulate quite the stack-o-papers!! We cleaned out the room, rearranged furniture and changed out the bedding. We are very pleased with the outcome. We switched most of the decorations from our bedroom to the guest bedroom. Now, I think it is a peaceful retreat that I know I would like to stay in. Hopefully our families will feel the same!! It is amazing what a little design remix can do for your home!! The best part: we spent $0.00 on the project. Now, that is amazing for the two of us!! Oh, how things change once you have a baby!!
Speaking of baby….Back to the long day we’ve had. While trying to get all our “to do’s” done, we have had a VERY fussy baby. The aftermath of 3 shots yesterday and two upper teeth trying to break through is not much fun to deal with. We mostly just felt bad for him. I just hate it when he doesn’t feel good. It breaks my heart. Well, I’m off to enjoy the quiet (he’s finally asleep!!) and to finish organizing my closet!!

Healthy Baby!!

today jax had his 6 month check up and shots. he is very healthy. his ear infection is cleared up and now we’re just dealing with allergies. he weighed 16# 12.5 oz and is 27″ long. he loves looking at all the murals on the walls at the dr.’s office. jax is rolling, sitting, and rocking on his hands and knees. he is very vocal and starting to say “mama, mama, and dada, dada”. i don’t think he knows what he’s really saying yet, but we are practicing.
i can’t help but feeling so incredibly blessed. to have a healthy baby is something i take for granted. at the dr. i saw a not-so-healthy baby and it just broke my heart, and made me look at jax a little differently. i will try not to let a day go by without thanking God for my beautiful healthy baby.
with that thought… i have been thinking lately about how blessed we truly are. i have so many things to be thankful for that i know i take for granted. we are blessed beyond measure. it is unbelievable all the material blessings that we enjoy. sometimes i feel ashamed of myself because i don’t even acknowledge all the things i already have, instead i focus on all the things that i don’t.
my goal for the next week is to not buy a thing for myself. i become so consumed with all that i want or “need”. i am going to TRY to focus my energy on being more thankful in prayer for all the material blessings i DO have. Material blessings aside, when was the last time we took an inventory of ALL our blessings?
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says “give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Have a good friday!!

Our Weekend

We had a pretty good weekend. No complaints, except not enough time together. I had to work on Saturday for a while, so Jax went to BB practice with his daddy. Last night we went to the fall festival at OCA. Jason, Renee & Isabelle joined us. I think Isabelle had the most fun! Jaxon got to wear his monkey suit which suits him perfectly.
Today we just rested and spent time together as a family. Now Jax is in bed and Joey and I are winding down, just waiting for the week to greet us.
Hope you all have a wonderful week!! May God bless us all.

The First French Fry

This was tonight at the OCA football game. We thought we’d give Jax a taste of what he really can’t have. So, do you think he liked it or what??? Needless to say, he wasn’t real happy when offered a bottle instead. Oh, the things he gets to look forward to!! Aren’t french fries yummy, even though they don’t make your tummy look very yummy?!?! Ha Ha!!

Girls Night!!

Last night Joey gave me the opportunity to have some time to myself. Joey took Jaxon to the school play and told me to enjoy myself. So… I had been craving a few things and couldn’t wait to get to it. First craving: My best friend Renee and I really needed to spend some time together!! Yes, we talk daily and see each other usually a few times a week, but NEVER without one or both of the kids!! Last night was the first time in 2 years (not exaggerating!) that we got to spend some time together alone and not rushed. It was WONDERFUL!!!! Second Craving: I had been longing for Johnny Carino’s Italian Nachos. If you have never had these, you are seriously missing out. I had not been there since I was pregnant. Renee and I split a lot of bread with toasted garlic, olive oil & balsamic vinegar, a salad, italian nachos, and the bowtie festival. And a festival it was!! It was amazing. Not just the food, but the conversation. It was so nice to actually get to finish a thought without being interrupted by a child or a husband!! (not that we don’t love that!) Third craving: Going to Barnes & Noble. I love going there and browsing and reading. Joey and I used to go there often. My favorite was going in the winter and getting hot chocolate and spending hours. Joey would go get a stack of things to look at and so would I. We would meet somewhere in the middle, plop down and read. Those were good times. It is not real easy to do that with a baby. So, Renee and I enjoyed finding some interesting books. We had a lot of fun. It is amazing what a few hours for yourself can do. I came home so refreshed!! Thank you so much Joey for my night off. I love you!! And to Renee, may this be the start of many more girls nights!! Thank you for being so understanding!!

what a trip!!

So…we headed to Dallas yesterday to pick Stacey’s Wedding dress. What an eventful 24 hours it has been!! It was the first road trip with a baby (at least when he wasn’t sleeping the whole time). Very different from a road trip with no babies!! Poor little guy, we felt so bad for him being stuck in the backseat for 3 hours. Needless to say it makes a 3 hour trip to Dallas a 4 hour trip!! But, that’s okay, he’s very worth the extra time!!
Here’s a funny story: Ok, so we make it to the dress shop in Addison, Tx. As we are getting out of the car I say “hang on I’ll grab my camera to take pictures of your dress”. Stacey gets Jaxon out and is soo excited, so she hurries into the store. About five minutes later she comes out of the store mad because I am not in there yet. I am outside in the car tearing it apart to find my camera. Yes, I have lost my most prized material possession, my digital camera. I was just beside myself. I was so determined that it was there somewhere. I had to take pictures of my sister, and of Jaxon, and of my parents with Jaxon. I just had to document our trip. I was SO upset, but I had to get over it, and pull myself together for one of the best moments of my sister’s life…her wedding dress fitting!! So, I finally put the car back together and go inside with a half smile and a knot in my stomach. We get the dress on Stacey and she just looks gorgeous. She says “oh, I have my camera in my purse, we can take some pictures with mine”. “Ok, fine” I answer. So, we take some great pictures. Some of the dress, some of us, some of Jaxon hiding under the petticoat…some great pictures. We get everything together and leave the dress store, to head to the most amazing store ever IKEA. In the meantime, I am still going over all my moves with my camera. “I know I took it out of the green bag and put it in the car so I could take pictures. Then I went back inside the house to lock up. Did I set the camera on the roof of the car? Did I accidentally take it back inside?? WHERE IS MY CAMERA. My digital life is over” Stacey was being a good sport in dealing with me, I know I wasn’t pleasant to be around, but I was trying to have fun and not let the loss of my camera ruin the trip. When Joey called and said he was home, I had him look around, but no sign of the camera. About 20 minutes later, I was turned around talking to little Jax, and noticed that Stacey had pockets on the back of her chairs. Wait…did I…OH MY GOSH, I FOUND MY CAMERA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The picture of me above is the moment I was screaming & Cheering. Stacey grabbed it out of my hands and captured the moment!!! I hope I have portrayed how much this meant to me, and changed my attitude for the day!! A major difference!! So, now I know you’re wondering, why I rambled on for so long. Well, we were eating dinner with my parents at The Blackeyed Pea, and we had just finished telling them the whole camera story. Then Jaxon was doing something cute, of course, and so I pull out my camera to take a picture of him, and stacey says “wait I want a picture with my camera too”. Well, funny thing….her camera wasn’t in her purse, or in the car…We definately left her camera at the dress store!!!! It was just so funny because I was “in charge” of her camera, and dress, and she had Jaxon for me. Well, after writing all that out, I can see that it may not be as funny to most as it was last night!! Oh well, we thought it was hilarious!! I guess the moral of the story is “what comes around goes around”, or you just may not want to trust me with your camera!!
Thank you for putting up with this very loonngg post!!

Happy half a year Jax!!

Happy Six Month Birthday Jaxon!!

Mommy & Daddy love you so much & we are so blessed to have you in our lives. These first six months have been so amazing and life changing. I cannot imagine living without you. You are so fun, and really show me God’s love. I love you baby Jax.

My Twins!!

Okay, so is it just me or do these two look JUST ALIKE??? That’s what I thought. It is crazy how much they look alike. From the hair line, to the eyebrows, the eyes, and facial expressions. I just love the fact that Jaxon looks so much like his daddy!! Jaxon has a several of my personality traits. Unfortunately, he has my patience level (or lack of). Oh well, he can learn how to be patient, at least he’ll be cute while doing it!!

Jaxon, my sister Stacey, and I are headed to Dallas tomorrow. We are going to pick up “THE DRESS”. My sister’s wedding dress that is. She ordered it like 6 months ago, and it is finally in & hopefully will fit her perfectly!! I can’t wait to see it in person, I know she will look beautiful in it. We will spend the night in Ft. Worth with my parents, then head back here on Wednesday morning!! I know my parents are looking forward to seeing Mr. Jax. It has been a little over a month since they have seen him. Jaxon will be 6 months old tomorrow & Stacey will be 22 on Thursday, so we will be having a little birthday dinner tomorrow night. My mom is the best at making birthday dinner’s special at home!! I sure wish my Joey could come with us, but he has to stay here and control all the Jr. high & high school students at OCA. Fun.Fun.. I will miss you Joey, and I know Jax will too!! After all, he is your mini me!!
