Goin' Old School

Back in the day there was a bagel shop that I visited often. Bubba’s Bagels in Arlington, Tx was one of my favorite place to eat breakfast and lunch in high school. Every time I went home from college, I had to go there and I usually brought a few dozen back to OK with me! My favorite was the everything bagel either with low-fat cream cheese or turkey and mustard for lunch! I was so sad the day I learned that Bubba’s went out of business. In Oklahoma there was one bagel place, but it too went out of business a few years later.
I know Panera has bagels, but they’re just not the same!

Well…..today my friends I was introduced to the Old School Bagel Cafe!!!! It was AMAZING! I’m in love! The bagel was SO good. And I had a turkey sandwich on an everything bagel. The name of the restaurant is perfect. You have to try it!!

Need Workout Motivation??

I do, I do! I feel totally LAZY after realizing today that I know a TON of people that participated in the OKC marathon! I enjoyed the boot camp that lasted for 6 weeks, but honestly I haven’t done a thing since it ended.

Well… Elizabeth is a personal trainer and is hosting a challenge on her blog. She will open a private blog & give 20 different 20 minute workouts to get you jump-started! There is a point system & a prize at the end!! If you decide to join, mention my name!!

Whirlwind

Jaxon & I had a good trip to Tx and back! We were glad to get home today to our daddy/hubby! We had a whirlwind trip. We stopped in 6 different cities along the way and back! I will let the pictures tell the story!
We left home right at 10:00 on Friday morning. With Jaxon being fully potty trained for about 3 months now, I was still a little nervous traveling for 3 hours with no backup. We went potty right before we left and I tried to put a pull up on him but he said “mommy, no, I’m a big boy and I need to wear underwear”. So…he wore his big boy undies, and it was wonderful…NO ACCIDENTS all weekend! I’m so proud!

This was after our FIRST stop…A while back Stacey (my sister) introduced me to the egg rolls at Jack in the box. We do not have one here, so I stop in Ardmore when I can to get some! Of course we needed a potty break too!
Here is Jax entertaining himself with some stickers

Our SECOND stop was in Flower Mound at Shauna’s house! It was nice to be able to visit with her for a while. Our kids played well together, too bad we don’t live closer we could have playdates more often!
Our kids – it was beautiful outside on Friday
Macy needed a bath when we came in from outside. We were upstairs so that Shauna could write down my directions to the highway. Jaxon was having fun splashing Macy with the water & Macy was loving it!
Our THIRD stop was in Lake Worth at the grocery store. Since we were having stacking tacos for dinner, I HAD to stop to get the ingredients for homemade guacamole!!

Our FOURTH stop was at my parents house in Azle My dad had just gone to sams and bought this huge block of cheddar cheese. Jaxon LOVES cheese and will often take a big chunk to try to eat when I am grating it at home. Well, this was no different to him. He thought it would be really funny to take a bite out of this huge block.Of course I should have been stopping him, but it was more fun to take pictures!
the aftermath – looks like a little mouse!
Friday night after dinner we went to the hospital to see my granddaddy. I will update more on that later.
Here is Jaxon with my grandmother and the bunnies. He kept making the bunnies kiss, then he would knock one of them out. I’m not sure where he gets all this stuff, but he keeps us laughing!
The three of us
On Saturday morning I made breakfast then we headed to Grandbury for our FIFTH stop of the weekend. My parents bought some land out there so we went to see it! I love the area they bought in & can’t wait to see how it develops.
Here is Jax on the way…
Finally! He stayed up a little too late on Friday night, so he was pretty grumpy on Saturday, but we made it!
We fed the ducks some Cheez-Its – they loved them!

Once we left there we decided to have a picnic. We had found this really nice park while driving around so we got some sandwiches at Schlotzky’s and ate at the park. There were some nice covered tables and the weather was perfect, so it was a great lunch. Jaxon was one of 3 kids there so he had a blast!
Here is his with his new “friend” – mr. pinecone. Poor mr. pinecone had about 10 trips down the slide!
Our SIXTH stop for the weekend was at the Ft. Worth Stockyards. We had been planning for a while to ride the train sometime. So, this was the day for it! Jaxon was disappointed at first that it wasn’t going to be Thomas, but I told him it was Thomas’ friend and he was ok with that!
I love his face here – this is when he first saw the big train coming!

Look at the excitement!

The Grapevine Vintage Railroad is just that. This was an old fashioned steam engine. The cars have no air conditioning…luckily it was beautiful outside! I cannot imagine riding this in the middle of the summer!

I love this shot I got of the trinity river with downtown behind it!Yes, I was letting my kid hang his head out of the window of a running train! Hey, he was bored! After about 20 minutes the coolness had worn off & he was ready to move on to something else. The total ride was about an hour. The last 30 minutes were SOOOOO long!
Cool glasses!
The “air conditioning”
And what would any fun day be without a ride on a carousel?
After the ride we ate in the stockyards then headed to the hospital one last time. We were all wiped out & ready for bed!!

Jax did great on the way home today too! He fell asleep about 20 minutes from home but woke up as soon as he saw his daddy!

Well if you’ve made it this far, I’m impressed!!

I hope you had a great weekend as well!

Hit the road Jax

Doesn’t my title make you want to sing the song “Hit the road Jack, and don’t you come back no more, no more, no more, no more, hit the road Jack…and don’t you come back no more….oh I could keep going, hopefully that won’t be in your head all day!

Jaxon and I are heading to Ft. Worth tomorrow to see my parents. My granddaddy (mom’s dad) is in the hospital, so we’re going to go see him. Joe cannot make it w/ us because he has the annual Jr./Sr. banquet for school…and I’m going to miss it! Oh well!
I decided tonight that I’d stop off at Shauna’s for a quick visit! Jaxon will get to play with Chase and Macy for a while, I’m sure they’ll have a great time! Then we’ll be at my parent’s in time for my favorite meal of my mom’s stacking tacos. YUMMY!!! Growing up my mom always made “fun food” on Friday nights. Stacking tacos in by far my favorite!!! I’m excited!

Have a great weekend!

Yearly it is!

Thanks for your advice on the blog book! I was leaning towards yearly, and you guys sealed the deal. I’ve gone back to make sure I can post before my actual blog start date and I can…so, I’ll be writing some posts from back in the day when I was prego & when jax was a baby. That way I can have a complete 2005! Man, this is going to be a LOT of work…but it will be so worth it!

Please Vote – Blog Book

So for about a year now I’ve been intending to make my blog into a book using blurb.com. I was a horrible new mother who did not completely fill out her ONLY child’s baby book. This blog is a combination of topics, but mostly revolves around our daily lives. Joey and I want to have this in book form to keep forever. This week, I downloaded the new booksmart software and have begun to edit the book. My problem is, I can’t decide how to format it?

I started the blog in Sept. of 2005. Jaxon was born in April of 2005. I would kind of like to go back and write out his birth story, etc. So…I need your help. Should I start the book in 9/05 and format it yearly, or should I format it by Jaxon’s age? The only thing about doing it that way, is when (no, not yet) we have another child, I’ll have to look at changing it up!!! Also I thought about doing a totally different book just about pregnancy, birth story, first year, etc. I know I’m probably putting too much thought into it, so please help me decide!!! Please leave your thoughts in my comments section…and vote on my sidebar!! Thank You!

Date Time

For the past few weeks, Joey has been taking Jaxon to the donut store on Saturday mornings. I’m not allowed to go, per Jaxon and I’m ok with that! It started out by Joey letting Jaxon “drive” to the 7-11 at the end of our neighborhood. Then one day Joey decided to take him to the “big” donut store (daylight donuts). That’s when it officially became a daddy/son date each Saturday morning! On Saturday I wanted to go with them because I needed to go to Target, but I was gently reminded by my three year old that the donut store if HIS time with daddy. I really love that, and I love that they have a special time together!

So, on Saturday while they were at Target, they passed by the book section and saw a Horton hears a Who book. Jaxon said to Joey “my mommy taking me to see that tonight”. Joey called me to see if I had mentioned anything of the sort, and I had not, but decided that Jax and I would have a “special” date. So…after naptime on Saturday, Jaxon and I went to see Horton hears a Who. We both really enjoyed it. Joey was so sweet and he got Jaxon ready for his big date. He brushed his teeth, fixed his hair, and even got to wear a little cologne. Joey told him he had to open the doors for me and give me lots of hugs and kisses! By the time Jaxon starts really dating, he will be a pro!
Here we are before our big night out!

Overall we had a pretty dull weekend, and it was great!!

Party Day

We had a pirate party! A veggie tales pirate party! My friend Tracy created the invitations for me!
Complete with “Pin the Patch on the Pirate” and a treasure hunt!

Here’s the treasure!! Each child had their own personal treasure chest filled with goodies!

Jaxon is 3!!!

I can’t believe it! We’ve been busy all day getting ready for a little party tomorrow. Joey has been gone since Wednesday and has been home now for about 20 minutes! I’m so thankful for him and his return! They say that three is the new two…I believe it! More on my boy being three soon! In the meantime, check out my sister’s blog for a sweet post!

Happy Birthday Jaxon Josiah!
