Be careful…
Bad day – turned out ok!!
We love the chipmunks in our house! Last week when Joey and I were at the dentist (an emergency in which I was bleeding A LOT – didn’t go into the story on here, but it was an interesting day!) we heard this “bad day” song. We agreed that the Chipmunks version is totally better!
Needless to say today was not great! This week has not been great – very challenging…mostly w/ work. Crazy enough, it’s also been a very rewarding week!
Tonight I was helping Jax get ready for bed and he randomly said “mom, I had a bad day”, I said “me too baby”. We were equally concerned for each other about why we had a bad day. For the record…I’m not sure Jax really had a bad day, he’d been totally happy since we’d been home. Nevertheless, we started singing “the chickmuks song”…we sing in it the chipmunk voice! We both had a good laugh and instantly all the cares of the day were wiped away.
We’ve changed up our nightly routine this week. We go to our bedroom and all three of us sing bible class songs, then say what we’re going to pray for and pray. Then Joey leaves and Jax and I read a story from the Veggie Tales Bible. It has been wonderful. It’s amazing to see Jaxon growing up in the Lord and learning so much.
So…I feel incredibly blessed and maybe this week isn’t so bad afterall!
One Year
I thought it would be fun to see the difference one year can make…

It’s so crazy to me how fast time flies. I can’t believe Jaxon is three. I can’t believe I’ve been married almost nine and a half years. I can’t believe I haven’t been to camp in five years (more on this to come). I can’t believe my sister moved away over two years ago. The list goes on and on. Because the time does go by…I’m realizing the importance of loving each day for what it is. Our years and months are short and our days are even shorter. Jaxon grows right before my eyes every day. I want to slow down and take it all in.
**Thanks to Kelly for my new look!! Kelly just loves to design and does a great job!!! Also, don’t forget Shauna @ Seemydesings she is amazing and is SO affordable for a new blog look or button!

San Diego
San Diego was beautiful! The seminar that I attended was amazing, yet exhausting! I was glad to get home to my boys! I got to spend some time with my Sister!!(go to her blog for more pics) I got to eat my first In-N-Out burger…it was SO good!
Joey did a great job w/ Jax while I was gone! Thanks honey for holding the fort down!
I hope you’re all having a great week!
weakly update (yes I know how to spell) – by Joey
We have had Bronchitis, Sinus Infection, some sort of eye-puss dripping infection, and irritable stomachs. So when we say weak we truly mean weak. I cannot remember the last time we all felt good. Jaxon is feeling better today, yet Suzy and I feel worse. Our ears are full, our noses runny and our eyes watery, yet we must continue to run our rat race. Suzanne leaves for San Diego on Tuesday, Jaxon and I will be home alone for the week. Its one of those illnesses where you don’t feel good, bad or otherwise, you just don’t feel like much of anything.
Jaxon and I managed to pick our lazy selves up and move on Saturday. We did the usual donut shop trip, and then we went to find a Mommies day gift. We ended up with perfume, roses and lip stuff, because mom has been quoting Napoleon Dynamite, “my lips hurt real bad”
Its never seems right to me to celebrate the role of mom with a simple card and gifts. It always makes me feel inadequate to try and sum up my gratitude with such trite expressions. I am lost in all of the things that my mom has done for me and I am constantly amazed at the things that Suzanne and Jaxon do together. How do you express thanks for everything good in your world? Think about it. Cookies, weird songs that only you know the meanings to, turning ouchies into a reason to get a toy, making things never seem as bad as they really are, and finally ignoring your glaringly obvious faults and reasons why some people just don’t like you.
Moms give meaning to the word love.
I think when God said to love one another as you love yourself, he knew it would take moms to teach us how. All the tears, all the heartache, all the joys, and all the sadness, cant be appreciated by a simple card or perfume. I have heard mothers day sermons, television commercials, and tributes from NBA players and PGA Golfers today all thanking mom for being mom. I can’t compete with that nor would I try. What I can do is raise my son to understand why mom cries when he is ugly, or why she cries when he goes to pre-school or college, or why she doesn’t like that girl he brought home, or why she just seems crazy sometimes….. because her life is to love him.
Thanks Mom, and thank you Suzy who is more than I ever prayed for in a wife and mommy.
Random Update
This weekend has been pretty low key for us! Jaxon and I have both been under the weather with sinus/allergy issues. I’m hoping that I feel better tomorrow and can function normally!
Joey’s school had an auction fundraiser but because I was sick, I stayed home. Well actually, I went to the grocery store because we really hadn’t been for about a month. Let’s just say my cart was REALLY heavy! Because I used coupons I saved right at $22.00. I still think my bill was at least $50.00 higher than normal due to increased prices, I also bought a ton of fresh produce so that will increase the bill too.
When Jax & I got home from the store Joey was home & had brought us a treat from Starbucks. Jaxon had his first starbucks drink – don’t worry, it was just chocolate milk!! “Special Chocolate Milk”…
Can you say future police man…
Tomorrow at work we are having a pot luck/baby shower for two preggo girls. I made my aunt’s recipe for homemade sausage bread. It is so good!! I am also taking spinach dip! Yummy!
Speaking of work…I was informed on Thursday that my boss who has been my mentor for the last two years is leaving. She was offered an amazing deal and can’t turn it down. So, she is taking her assistant with her and their last day is Friday. Crazy. There are going to be some major changes taking place. There is hopefully one good change for me in all of this, but I will not know until sometime next week or so. Please keep this in your prayers. I want God’s will for me & my work to be clear.
I was invited to a Sales Academy and will be traveling for that next week. Oh yeah, did I mention it is in SAN DIEGO!!
I was planning to go visit Megan this weekend but because of all the work drama and the work trip I had to reschedule…Meg, thanks for understanding!
My granddaddy will be having surgery on Tuesday…I’ll post more about that tomorrow, but please say a prayer for him as well.
Ok, so this was a pretty random post…I think that’s all for now!
