Gobble Gobble

I hope you are all having a wonderful Thanksgiving day! This picture was taken just a few minutes ago on my computer!
We’ve just enjoyed a YUMMY meal complete with turkey, dressing, hash-brown casserole, green beans, corn, rolls, chocolate pie (pioneer woman’s – amazing) and pumpkin pie! It was amazing which is good because that is what is for dinner too!
Right now my parents are asleep in the living room, Jax is in his room and Joey and I are just hanging out. He’s now playing on his play station portable and I’m obviously on the computer!

Yesterday when I was making the YUMMIEST taco soup ever I did something REALLY stupid. I opened a can of corn with the can opener but it didn’t cut all the way. So, me, being the genius that I am sometimes, decided to lift it up with my fingers. BIG mistake! I’ve done that thousands of times and it’s been fine. Well, NOT yesterday!
Even though it looks small…it HURT…BAD! Joey was reminding me that I’ve been through labor and two bouts of kidney stones. I was crying like a baby! The good news is that I’m going to live…and I’m THANKFUL for that! ha!

Speaking of being THANKFUL… This morning we talked about what we were thankful for.

Jaxon said “I’m THANKFUL for my heart and my cars” “and my house and mommy & daddy”
Joey is THANKFUL “for a lot of things” – he did elaborate a little more than this!
And I’m THANKFUL for a lot of things too…but especially::

My marriage
Jaxon
our families
our health
for God’s blessing
to have a job
and so, so, SO much more!

I hope that all my blogging friends are feeling very blessed as well!

F is for Fort

During the school year, it is usually just Jax and I on Friday nights. We’ve grown to enjoy our Friday nights together! We almost always rent a *free movie from M&M’s or a $1.00 movie from Red box. We usually run through the Chick Fil-A drive through. Then….it’s time to come home and build our fort:::
To build a GREAT fort you need:

MANY pillows…this is part of the fun! We go into each room and race to see who can gather the most pillows.
NEXT we pick out the fort cover – AKA a fitted sheet!
THEN we move the coffee table out of the way… Jax loves to feel like he is super strong!
MOVE the kitchen chairs into the living room
DRAPE the chairs with the fitted sheet and extra blankets or sheets to cover the sides.
POP in the movie
SET up your picnik
THEN bask in the coolness of the evening.

THE BEST PARTS ARE:: Your son thinking you are the coolest and you thinking you are the luckiest to have such comfortable pillows, food to eat, a movie to watch, quiet time with your child and the blessing of being a parent!

So, if you don’t have any plans tonight……. BUILD A FORT! It may do more for YOU than your children!

Happy Friday!

does reading make you sleepy? (and a recipe)

I think many of us like to read to relax. If I read in bed, I can usually only make it through a few pages before I am out. Apparently, it runs in the family::

This is what I found last night when I went to check on him! If you’ll notice, he has a little smudge of chocolate on his chin. OK, so I’m not a perfect mother whose kid goes to bed perfectly clean every night..oh well!

Last night I made THE MOST AMAZING BROWNIES EVER!! Seriously, I’ve had this recipe bookmarked for over a year. I found it yesterday and gave it a try. It is SO easy but SO wonderful! YOU have to try them!!

I will never buy a box of brownie mix again…EVER…this is so much better and easier!

Here’s the recipe::

Triple Fudge Brownies

1 chocolate cake mix in a box (I used milk chocolate)

1 pkg instant chocolate pudding mix (small)

1 12oz pkg chocolate chips (I used milk chocolate)

2 cups Milk

Directions: Set oven @ 350 degrees. Whisk milk and pudding together. Add in chocolate cake mix (if you don’t have a mega mixer like mine & are using a reg. whisk you may need to switch to a spoon as you continue to add cake) and stir until no lumps/clumps. Fold in chocolate chips. Pour into a greased pan and bake for 30 min. or until top springs back. (my oven cooks fast, I only baked for about 23 minutes. I like my brownies a little gooey in the middle though)
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and/or serve with vanilla ice cream

I forgot to sprinkle w/ powdered sugar and they were still amazing!

Enjoy!

The boy loves to bake

So, I realize I’ve been MIA this past week. I just haven’t really had the blog mojo in me! I’m trying to bring it back! I realize I’m way behind, so the next few posts will not be incredibly current but I need to post them for our book!

Jaxon has a love of baking and cooking just like me. Almost every time I’m in the kitchen he wants to know what I’m making and if he can help. I ADORE this about him!!
He’s finally to the point where I can give him a little more responsibility and he loves it!

Ok, so we still have issues with our fake smiles….but at least the cupcakes tasted good!
