I'm thinking something like this…

Would be a REALLY nice treat to beat this heat!!! It was 100 degrees here today! The high for the next two days is over 100… CRAZY!!

I’m thankful for Ice, Water and Air Conditioning!

What’s your favorite treat to beat the heat????

One thing we’ve done this summer is to pour 100% juice into Popsicle molds and freeze… YUM!!

sometimes it's a fort, sometimes a tent

I’ve written before about how we like to build forts in the living room. Being a mommy of boys, well a wife to one and a mommy to one, we camp out in the living room a LOT!

Sometimes it’s in a Tent::

Sometimes it’s a man mommy made fort::

Like this:
or this:

EITHER way…
there is sure to be::

LOTS
of pillows… and smiles
AND…
Pop Pop

Sometimes
with…

M&M’s

No matter what the movie, the type of tent or the goodies in the popcorn, there is a lot of LOVE!

Thank you Joey and Jaxon for helping me to be creative in way’s I never thought possible!

I love you both!

crafty explosion… and a surprise!

Happy Friday!! I’m actually sitting on my couch… the house is silent, everyone is sleeping, including these two – fresh in from LA::

This was taken last night sometime around 11:30 pm… The FIRST thing my prego sister wanted was BUENO (no bueno in Cali)!! Ok, so this picture isn’t the most flattering… but they do clean up VERY well… click on these links to see!!!! Trust me, go.. you won’t be disappointed! Part 1. Part 2. (this is the surprise.. ha! LOVE these pics)

Ok, on to crafty things… My head is EXPLOding with ideas!!! My only problem, TIME!!! I need more. Being a full time (outside the home) working mommy and wife takes up pretty much ALL of my time!

That hasn’t stopped me for preparing for MANY projects. My husband will be so glad when I finally find some TIME to complete them.. maybe then he can have the garage back!

Here’s a preview of a few things to come… ok, really it’s just the decorative parts.. but they will be good… I promise!!

And let’s not forget this little beauty… well, it will be anyway! (in case you forgot, I got this for FREE)

Have a great weekend! Happy crafting… or whatever it is you’ll be doing!

Just because it’s Friday, why don’t you leave me a comment so that I know you were here! Thanks!!!

A Day at the Museum

Joey has been wanting to visit this museum for a while now. So, Friday night I looked up the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History and found out that Saturday there was free admission paid for by Chesapeake. Perfect! So, we planned out the day. I have to be honest, I REALLY did not want to go.

I’m not much for museums or history… I know, I know, but I’m not! ha!

However, we ended up having a great time… MYSELF included!

I’ll let the pictures tell the story….

Stopped at 7-11 for gas and drinks.  While waiting, Jaxon practiced a little sign language!
We finally arrived in Norman at the SNOMNH::

There was a LOT to see and do::

First on the to-do list “talk to the dum dum’s” – apparently something Jax picked up from Night at the Museum – So… he got to fulfill his only request for the day::

We were kind of in awe of this::
Check out the size of that skull – it made the Guiness Book!

Jax could not believe this was a dino foot::
This guy was HUGE – Seriously! Can you even imagine being on earth at the same time? WOW!!
To put it into perspective – Here is Jax next to his THIGH bone!
Next Stop – The Discovery Center (anything you can reach, you can touch)::
Jaxon got to do a dino bone dig:
We got to try on funny masks::
After playing in there and opening EVERY drawer, we headed upstairs… Here’s the best family picture we got!  Sorry Joe!
This was my favorite part of the museum – Human or Chimpanzee? There was a series of ways that you can compare yourself to a chimp…. very interesting!
My favorite pic of the day::
A Virus:: – AKA a great way to inform scare my child about the importance of hand washing!
The boys looking at a dead fly or some
thing::
I obviously took A TON of pictures… Click below to see a few more::

On the way home we stopped at Gaylord Memorial Stadium to show Jaxon where OU plays football! He was in awe!!

The field looks so different during off season::

Not that I’m ready for summer to be over – but these pics make me excited for OU Football season!!!

And LAST but not LEAST… my favorite picture from the day::

Well, if you’ve made it this far, I’m impressed!

So… the moral of the story is … Museum’s aren’t that bad if you’re with the ones you love!

A little visit to my favorite place on Earth!

Thursday we went out to Lu-Jo for a little visit! Here are a few pics from the trip!

A blurry pic of the sign leading to camp::
Nice costume::
Joey was saying “Jax, we don’t hit people with the ax”

My sweet husband preaching from his heart::

A family pic – the night sky is my favorite out there.. the stars are SO bright::

There was a hypnotist visiting that night for the “entertainment”. It was hilarious. Jax got very sleepy very fast when the guy was putting them under! We made sure there was no harm and the guy said that he is too young to be hypnotized, but he might sleep really well. That was an understatement. This kid was out. He slept through the rest of the evening, the transfer to the car, all the way home, transfer inside and until about 10 am the next morning!! We might have to look into hypnotism school!

It was a great evening! Exhausting, but great!

Love…nieniedialogues

Hopefully there isn’t anyone out there who hasn’t heard of NieNie::

If you haveYou’ve been blessed. If you haven’t…. GO NOW!!!

Either way, Please go read THIS POST.

ahhh…. Love!

This family has been through so much. The trials they are facing are unimaginable. EVERY time she posts since her return home from the hospital, I am filled with hope and a sense and reminder that God is TOtALLY in control!!!

What I love most is that the simple, every day things that we (I) take for granted are such a big deal to them and the blessing is realized…. That’s the reminder that I need somtimes… slow down and LIVE life to the FULLest!

Happy Thursday!!

Family update and a "dumpster dive"

If you know Joey and I well, you know that Camp Lu-Jo holds a VERY special place in our hearts. (click here and here for stories and pics)
This week marks the FIRST time that Joey or I have been to camp without the other one since our story began about 15 years ago! It feels VERY unnatural for him to be there without me! However, life means that “You can’t always get what you want” – a line from one of my favorite Rolling Stones songs! Since this year has been crazy in my line of work (mortgages) and it’s only getting busier…there was NO way for me to be able to make it happen this year.
So… Yesterday Joey left for camp. Jax was pretty bummed, because he loved it last year. We plan on spending an entire day out there this week so at least we’ll get a little fix!

Jax and Daddy before he hit the road:
This morning was Jaxon’s first day in Mrs. Mcbride’s class at MRCC. Wow… I cannot believe he is old enough to be in there!
Jaxon has been practicing some signs.. here’s the best one!:

Okay, thanks for getting through the obligatory family stuff… here’s what you really want:: The Dumpster Dive story!

My mom got here yesterday from Ft. Worth to help w/ Jax for the week since I will be working. Tonight as we were on our way home we spotted a GREAT “trash” pile. Tomorrow is “Big Trash Monday” in our neighborhood! I didn’t get a pic of the pile, but here are a few items I pulled out of it. This was my FIRST time “dumpster diving“. I’m sure my husband would approve! ha! For the record, I got all of this loaded by myself and it took two trips!

First – a set of OLD Samsonite suitcases… ugly green. I have NO clue what I will do with them (well I do have one little idea). If I can’t figure something out, they’ll be on my curb the second Monday in July!

Next is what caught my eye to begin with – a dresser!! I’m not real sure where I’ll use it, but it is in almost perfect condition. It obviously needs some major sanding and paint, but hey, that’s my specialty!!
Then I spotted these shutters. We have the exact shutters in our house. Again, they may end up on the curb but I just hated to see them go to the trash without some thought put into it!
This was a must… I know exactly what I’m going to do with this – Just have to find the perfect fabric! I had to hurry home to unload the dresser and head back before someone stole it from me… ha!
I work really close to the local goodwill. I go in from time to time, generally I don’t find much. On Friday I found this:

You can find your very own Whirley Pop HERE for $25.19 plus shipping and handeling. I’m proud to say that I paid a WHOLE $3.00 for mine!! I’ve been wanting one forever… timing is everything!

Sta
y tuned for After photos… I might actually get through a project this week… ok, don’t hold your breath!
Happy Monday – Suzanne

A Milestone reached… PLUS a sampling of loaner clothes!

I remember the first day I dropped Jaxon off at his home for childcare for almost 4 years. After he was born, I was able to stay home for almost two months. When it was time to return to work, we had a dear family friend who kept him for the summer. When he was about 5 months old, he began to go to a wonderful caretaker full time. She is someone that goes to our church and I have known for a long time. She is so loving and wonderful with the kids, plus she has a christian based curriculum and a structured schedule that was desirable to us. Since I couldn’t be there everyday, she was the next best thing! Wonderful!

Since Jax turned 4 in April, this past Thursday was Jaxon’s last day with her. One more milestone crossed off the list.

In honor of all the great memories… I thought I’d do a tribute to the loaner clothes Jax has come home in over the past few years! I was never all that great at packing extra clothes. And, let’s face it toddler boys are messy and have accidents! So, it was always fun to pick him up and get a report of the day. I knew it had been fun if he was dressed in loaner clothes when I got there!

I absolutely love all these pictures… some of my favorites: the epitome of a little boy… crazy outfits::

HERE IS A POST I wrote a long time ago about loaner clothes. Here are some pics from that post::

Here’s a little sampling from the past year or so:: Jax absolutely loved these Ninja Turtle PJ’s Circa about 1990!

It was also Danny’s last day on Thurday, Here is Jax and Danny last spring. I picked the boys up for a trip to Mardel(the train store) and Jaxon asked Ms. R if he could borrow this shirt! So funny!
I’m not sure what it is about other people’s clothes.. but Jaxon loved these shorts!
This is probably one of my favorites:: Who dosen’t love some Mickey Pj’s w/ cowboy boots (the boots ARE his – ha!)?
And last but not least, there’s this little number:: Oh yes, khaki not-intended-to-be-manpri’s, paired w/ a black vbs shirt… priceless!

Here’s to four fabulous years of childcare…we made it! And Jaxon would not be who he is today without the love and care he was provided.. Oh and the clothes!

I love you little man and I’m so proud of you… welcome to pre-k!
