Mommy, can we have octopus for dinner?

If  you heard this come out of the mouth of a 4 year old, you’d probably be thinking “what in the world”!!  Yeah, I’ve never had actual octopus and I’m pretty sure Jaxon hasn’t either.  What he is referring to is the super cool octopus I made a few weeks ago!

Octopus noodles

Here’s what I did::

I simply skewed raw spaghetti noodles through pieces of all beef hotdogs (we had grilled them the night before).  Then I just dropped them into boiling water…  about 8 minutes later….

his dinner was served:

Cinnamon apples, cheese slices and a little octopus! Of course he ate more than one of those little guys!

He loved it and has asked me to make them several times!

Happy Thursday…..  It’s ALMOST BOOMER SOONER TIME!!!!

So, my kid is funny. And I’m sure your kids are funny. In fact I know they’re funny and sweet and say all kinds of clever things!
When I saw this idea Jaxon wasn’t even talking yet…but it’s one I remembered! I started it a few months ago but it only lasted a day or so. But on the 1st I started it again.
What is it? It’s the “Jar of Jaxon”. Yes, that’s the best I could come up with for now!
The idea is to write down the funny, sweet, clever, etc. things that your kids say and place them in a jar. I think the reason it didn’t last long the first time was that I didn’t have the right set-up. Well, now I’ve got the set up!

In the little basket I keep the jar and pre-cut strips of paper (all sizes) and a pen or markers. That way I can go right away and write it down so I don’t forget!

The other day I had the jar out in the living room. Jaxon thought it was like the the Christmas jar where he got to pick a piece of paper out and do something. So here’s how the conversation went:: (and YES I wrote it down and now it’s in the jar)

J: MOMMY, is this for me? What do I get to do today?
S: Well, buddy this jar is not like the Christmas jar. The jar has paper with funny things that you’ve said.
J: MOMMY….I am NOT funny, I’m SERIOUS.
S: (laughing) See… THAT was funny!

It was his tone of voice that was really funny. That night he wanted me to read him all the notes in the jar. I think it made his day. I know having this jar will make me smile for days and years to come!

Weekend Update

My blog has been pretty boring this week. It has definitely had to take a backseat to life. Work is getting really busy, which in my line of work is a super blessing! No work = No pay! Joey’s principal & athletic director duties are back in full force. The free time I have had has been spent with my boy!

Today Joey and I are going to the OU game! We are taking the Conley’s with us! It should be a lot of fun!

So….I’ll be back later with more! I hope you’re having a great weekend so far!!

26×2

Happy Birthday to my Dad!!!
This picture is almost 10 years old but it’s one of my favorites!

Here’s a poem that my dad wrote for Jaxon a few weeks ago….I LOVE It!

A Poem For Jaxon

On April 11, 2005
God Gave Us A Gift
That Has Enriched Our Lives

He Gave Us A Grandson
We Know As Jaxon
Who Has Brought Us Love
With Great Satisfaction

He Is A Handsome Young Boy
That Gives Us Great Joy
He Makes Wonderful Noise
When Playing With His Toys

Jaxon, You See
Is “Pa Pa G’s”
Pride And Joy
He Loves To Tell Me
“ I Get Toys”

He Loves Chocolate Milk
And Doughnuts Too
And All Those Trips
To The OKC Zoo

Going To Target
Excites Him Like You Wouldn’t Believe
So, do Not Get, In A Hurry To Leave

This Wonderful Little Boy
Is Spiderman, Superman, Batman At Times
He Will Watch Movies Or Eat Ice Cream
At The Drop Of A Dime

He Loves God
Our Lord And Savior
And Is Raised Daily
To Be In His Favor

He loves His Mom And Dad
His Grandparents Too
All Of His Aunts And Uncles
Just To Name A Few

He Loves Football, Basketball
And Sports Of All Kinds
He Will Grow Up
To Be Like Daddy
In Too Short Of Time

His Mom Is His Princess
Whom He Loves To Help Cook
Or Sit In Her Lap
While She Reads Him A Book

Jaxon, You Are
A Gift From Above
To All Those You Love

Thank You God
For Our Little Jaxon
Who Is So Full
Of Love And Action

“Pa Pa G”

Thank you dad for your love for all of us…we love you back! Happy Birthday!!

the old man, the fat boy & the geisha

Last Friday night we went on a family date! We took Jaxon to Shogun. We had been once before but he was around one, so he didn’t really get it. He loved it and we had so much fun!! I’m sure most of you know what it is, but they cook the food on a big grill at your table and put on a show full of flying shrimp and flaming onion volcanoes!
You can order your drink in a collectible ceramic figure. Jaxon wanted the little “fat boy”. When his water arrived, he thought it was the coolest thing ever. He really wanted me to get “the lady” which is really called a geisha. Well, I’m definitely not a geisha, but I ordered a Shirley temple to go w/ my lady! Of course Joe had to get one too, his was the “old man”!

So now we have this little collection that WILL NOT be displayed in my house. Maybe next time we have chicken stir fry we’ll pull them out!
They’re a little creepy if you ask me!

Family Pictures… *updated*

We finally had some pictures made a little while ago…and I finally ordered them! I scanned a few of them in to share! Please excuse the dust on my scanner!
This first one was already framed…it’s a little crooked!

*Brad Myers from church took them. Click on his name to go to his website. He and Terra did a great job! They were fun to work with, it was very relaxed and they are affordable!

Thank You Joey

My sweet husband brought these home for me today! Thank you Joey!

*Joey and I actually got to go out on a date Friday night!!!! Jaxon has a new BF, Danny. All we hear about is Danny! I’m glad that he has a playmate & that his parents wanted to have Jax come over so we could go out!

*We also had some friends from church over for dinner Sunday night. I just love having people into our home.

*We are getting back into the swing of things around here. Softball starts this week, football next week, we are 11 days away from OU FOOTBALL KICKOFF!!!!! We are getting ready (more to come on that)!

*Jaxon is doing well with potty training (except for the accident on the wood floor tonight!

*Jaxon is in the full 2 year old phase (testing everything, talking so much, being sweet, going potty, developing an imagination, repeating everything, etc., etc.)

*I fell at work yesterday (stop laughing Megan & Stacey! Ha!). The back offices flooded over the weekend and the carpet was wet and the tile was slick. I landed on my bad knee, it is sore, but I am fine. The worst part is that I ruined my favorite black pants that are part of a suit.

I started this post a while ago, but now I am really sleepy…I’ll have to come back tomorrow with something more exciting!

calgon take me away

What do you get when you mix a high school principal (who’s school starts wednesday), a mortgage loan officer (who is having her best month ever), and a two year old boy (who is in his two year old prime)….. A STRESSED OUT FAMILY!!!! joey is stressed to the max and that makes me stress out, jaxon had a bad day (time out 4 times at mrs. ruthann’s) and that makes me stress out. the solution…wash the stress away! jaxon took a nice relaxing bubble bath while watching shark tale on his portable dvd player. i think it was the best bath he’s ever had!

an amazing thing happened, he emerged from the water HAPPY!!!

then it was my turn. a day like this calls for the good bath products. a few of you have been in my shower and have seen my collection of products. you know that i have the everyday quick shower, got at target products, then i have the expensive, use only now and then, spent too much money on products. after a mini medi/pedi, a mini facial, an eyebrow touch up, and a good scrub, i emerged refreshed!

don’t we look relaxed?

now i am sitting in bed blogging while joey plays psp. we just shared some ben & jerry’s!
i may be stressed at times, but i am blessed all the time!

The Joys of Principalhood – Updated

This is what we opened our front door to this morning!!! It’s official the students are back in our lives. Summer is over! Jaxon thought it was really cool. The funny thing is, the first thing I noticed was that they used the expensive toilet paper, more than 12 rolls! The first rule of t.p.ing is to find the cheapest tp available! This is not the first time this has happened, and last time they came back to clean up! I hope that happens today!

Like Joey said…”at least you have something to blog about”!

Have a great day!

Update::
I was totally ok with this until I had to clean it up with a two year old in the hot afternoon sun! I guess I deserved a payback from my teenage years!
